Baby Singlets: Simple, Lacy or Textured – Naturally K3009
Three little singlet designs in one 4ply leaflet: a striped stocking-stitch style, a delicate lacy version and a single-colour textured front. Choose the finish you enjoy knitting for a useful baby layer.
Construction and pattern facts
All three designs are knitted flat from the bottom up as separate front and back pieces, with a centre-back opening. Join the shoulders with a three-needle cast-off, pick up stitches for the neck and armhole bands, then sew the sides. The simple design has stripes, the lacy design has a folded picot hem, and the textured design uses a knit-and-purl chart. Each uses a single working strand; the striped design alternates colours rather than holding them together.

Gauge
28 stitches × 36 rows over stocking stitch on 3.25 mm needles = 10 × 10 cm. Wash and block a swatch before checking tension.
Needles and notions
- 2.75 mm and 3.25 mm needles, plus a spare 3.25 mm needle for the shoulder cast-off.
- Small stitch holders and a tapestry needle.
- Two small buttons for the simple vest; the lacy and textured finishing instructions each specify one button.
Skill guidance
Confident beginner to intermediate, depending on the design. The simple version involves stripes and shaping; the lacy version adds yarn-overs and decreases, while the textured front requires reading a knit-and-purl chart. All three involve picking up stitches and finishing seams.
