Summer Sleeveless Dress – Naturally K3032
A sleeveless cotton dress with a gathered skirt, a narrow ribbed detail and shaped bodice. Sesia Batik gives the stocking stitch its colour effect and a touch of shimmer. The front and back are knitted flat from the hem upwards, joined at the shoulders and sides, then finished with picked-up neck and armhole bands.
Sizes and fit
Five sizes cover ages 1–8 years. The pattern gives the same chest measurement for the child and the finished garment, so compare the finished chest with a well-fitting garment before choosing a size.

Yarn requirements
Use Sesia Batik 10ply, worked as one strand from the yarn supply. The yarn is 98% organic cotton and 2% polyester, with 75 metres per 50 g. The sample is photographed in shade 455. Allowances are approximate.

Tension
22 stitches × 28 rows over 10 cm in stocking stitch on 3.75 mm needles. Wash and dry a swatch before measuring; adjust needle size to achieve the pattern tension.
Needles and notions
- 3.25 mm and 3.75 mm knitting needles, or sizes needed for tension.
- 3.25 mm circular needle with a 40 cm cord, or 3.25 mm double-pointed needles for the neckband.
- One stitch holder and a tapestry needle for sewing up and weaving in ends.
Skills and preparation
Confident Beginner. This project uses stocking stitch, garter stitch, ribbing, decreases, neck and armhole shaping, picking up stitches, a three-needle cast-off and seaming. It suits a knitter comfortable following garment shaping and finishing instructions. The main pieces are worked flat; the neckband is worked in the round.
Pattern correction for the 6-year size
In the Front section, work until the armhole measures 10 cm before starting the front neck shaping, rather than the printed 19 cm. This is the Wild & Woolly-approved correction for the 6-year size; the full back armhole depth remains 15 cm.
